Cours du 30 Juillet
The Parisian Revolution
It was during the reign of Louis XVI that this avenue was designed by the architect Victor Louis. It begins at the Maison Bobinau, now called the Maison du Vin. Formerly named Cours Vergennes, then Cours 12 Mars, it became Cours 30 Juillet in 1830. It was on July 30th that people in Bordeaux first heard about the Parisian revolution of the 27th, which put an end to the reign of Charles X. There were violent demonstrations throughout the town on this day.
